Stealth submarine
The submarine unveiled by Mr. Putin is smaller than the Kursk, and has only 63 crew. The Kursk’s crew was 118, all of whom died when the sub was sent plunging to the bottom of the Barents Sea.
The Gepard, which means cheetah, is noted for its stealth. It is one of the quietest and fastest submarines in the world.
It carries nuclear cruise missiles as well as torpedoes.
