Charisma Response To “David” (Lakeland #5)
Bob Neumann, 5/2008
A response to David who wrote to IHL,
What’s the difference between discernment and judging? If I say the Lord told me something is demonic and we need to avoid it, is that exercising discernment or judgement? Judgement refers to our eternal destiny, we’re told not to condemn, which no one here had. Discernment means recognize what is of God and what is of man or the devil. Why would God give the gift of discerning of spirits if we weren’t to use it to decide what is and is not of the devil? And once we know, we use it to proclaim to those such as yourself who obviously don’t have that gifting, a warning so you can exercise wisdom by avoiding something dangerous and demonic. That is not judgement as Scripture refers to it. It’s discernment and wisdom. As Paul would advise, have nothing to do with it.
Well said David. Whenever we “sense” wrongness, all we are doing is acknowledge that we have used one of our senses, DISCERNMENT. Then we take the time to “study” the fruit we have encountered. Does it smell strange or look weird? If so we make a “personal judgment”. All this is really is a decision to “not eat” it. The GIFT of Discernment is an ability, TALENT, one practices with and improves it.
As you say we “exercise” each and every GIFT ABBA GIVES for the benefit of the SHEEP. Seeing that there is a horrendous lack of all the GIFTS, especiallythose in positions of promenance, someone whould shout when danger aproaches. So i ask you David, what do you do when that danger is suddenly all around you? When men most sheep go to for assistance, defend and support what THE MOST HOLY SPIRIT had directed to evaluate and give warning about?
That is my FIRST QUESTION. selah olddog
