Mrs. Robinson Part 3: Isaiah’s Commission and the Results of the 2024 US Presidential Election
December 26, 2024
It was 22 years ago today that the Lord sent me forth to share his word with the world, but that was not the first time that he called me, or signaled my calling. In 1995, about 29 years ago, he called me through Isaiah 6. The English version of the Bible that I had at the time was the NIV. Many years later, after having grown closer to the Lord, and with better understanding, I realize now that the day the Lord called me in 1995 through Isaiah 6 was the first time he announced my commission even though he would wait to send me forth 7 years later.
Isaiah 6 (NIV)
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”
4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
9 He said, “Go and tell this people:
“‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’
10 Make the heart of this people calloused;
make their ears dull
and close their eyes.[a]
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”
11 Then I said, “For how long, Lord?”
And he answered:
“Until the cities lie ruined
and without inhabitant,
until the houses are left deserted
and the fields ruined and ravaged,
12 until the Lord has sent everyone far away
and the land is utterly forsaken.
13 And though a tenth remains in the land,
it will again be laid waste.
But as the terebinth and oak
leave stumps when they are cut down,
so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.”
The fall of 1995 was when I committed myself to serve Jesus. I had finally answered the call that I had heard when I was about 13 years old. Like Jonah, I hardened my heart, but at 21 years old, in 1995, I knew that I could not fence-sit any longer. I had to serve. My choice was between service or death. I chose service. I gave up every false hope and dream that I clung to. I surrendered every selfish ambition, and ambition to please others, and I picked up my cross and followed Him. Weeks later, the Lord called through Isaiah 6.
I knew in my spirit why he used these words to call me. There is nothing new under the sun. The message that Isaiah delivered is the same one that I have delivered to the world. I also felt the same way that Isaiah felt. A sinner. A man of unclean lips. Filthy rags before the glory, majesty and holiness of the King. Earlier this week, I was reminded of that feeling again and the indescribable holiness of God. He does not tolerate sin. There is no sin in Him. He is perfect, and our best efforts fall short of His glory. We are unworthy on our own to dwell in His presence. Without the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross, there is only condemnation and eternal damnation.
The Lord told me to send this word out today. He told me to lead with Isaiah 6. The rest of this word will close with the outcome of the 2024 US Presidential election. President Trump won. The 45th President, and now President-elect, was re-elected to a 2nd non-consecutive term by the American people. Not only did he win the election, he won convincingly. He also won the popular vote which means that even without the electoral college points system, Trump would have won the election anyway. Trump and his supporters declare that his electoral victory is a mandate by the people to support his political agenda. In a sense that’s true. He won, and will get the chance to enact the policies that his constituents voted for. More importantly, the purpose that God revealed to me, the destruction of the Philistine temple and the slaughter of their princes, will be fulfilled.
But make no mistake, this was not an election between candidates that represent God’s side and the devil’s side. There’s a correlation, yes, but the Venn diagram bubbles both overlap good and evil even though one side overlaps evil less than the other. To illustrate the Holy Spirit’s point, He wanted me to share the results of the 2024 election in the state of Florida.
Trump won 56.1% of the votes to Harris’s 43%. That’s a sizeable margin in a state that has had closer elections in the past. He won Hillsborough (Tampa), Kissimmee (Orlando suburb), and Miami-Dade counties. It was a clear victory—above the margin to steal, so they say. No need to count hanging chads or have the Supreme Court weigh-in to decide the election. The outcome was clearly known hours after polls closed. It was an early sign that a “red wave” would sweep Trump back into office.
Could we use this result to mean that there is a conservative shift? Could it signal increasing repentance and growing righteousness. Is it a rejection of worldliness, and of “woke” anti-God leftist ideology? The Holy Spirit answered me by having me look further into Florida’s election results. What I found clearly shows the current state of the hearts and minds of the citizens of Florida, and is a proxy indicator of the state of America as a whole.
On the 2024 ballot in Florida was a state-wide referendum measure, to enshrine in the state’s constitution, legalized abortion until 24 weeks of gestation. State constitutional referendums require 60% of the vote to pass. Thankfully, the measure failed, but surprisingly, it didn’t fail by much. 57.2% of voters voted for legalizing abortion rights. Only 42.8% voted against. Trump received 6.1 million votes, but the No vote on legalizing abortion only received 4.5 million votes. Harris received 4.7 million votes, and legalized abortion received 6.1 million votes. This means that many Trump voters also voted for abortion rights. The number of Trump voters that voted for abortion could be as high as about 1.6 million votes (assuming that very few voters voted for Harris and against abortion).
The abortion issue is a key indicator of the spiritual state of the people. One cannot desire to dwell in God’s holy presence and be pro-abortion. One cannot fear the Lord and be pro-abortion. If another Republican had run that lacked Trump’s populist support, the abortion referendum could have passed legalizing abortion until 24 weeks and banning all laws throughout the state that would seek to further restrict it. For those keeping score, this means the hearts of the majority of the people are still far from God. There is still a lot of work to do. There is still a need to pray for a spirit of repentance over this nation. There is a still a sentence, a judgment, a decision that has been made that will come to pass until this nation says, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty! For I am a man of unclean lips, and live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
“For how long, Oh Lord?” I cried.
And then he answered:
“Until the cities lie ruined
and without inhabitant,
until the houses are left deserted
and the fields ruined and ravaged,
12 until the Lord has sent everyone far away
and the land is utterly forsaken.
13 And though a tenth remains in the land,
it will again be laid waste.
But as the terebinth and oak
leave stumps when they are cut down,
so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.”
