Last night after several posts I tried to sleep in spite of many thoughts. Once I was successful I had two very vivid dreams, extremely different.

The first took place in a simple large room devoid of any decoration whatsoever. All I can say for certain was that there was a floor, because I wound up sitting on it.

What made it interesting was the amazing number of children in the vicinity. Some were running around while many occupied themselves with assorted stuffed animals, blocks and assorted “stuff”. Some were fashionably dressed in full outfits any Grandmother would be pleased with. Some were in the process of removing or putting on shoes and socks and assorted clothing. But many had simply a diaper and a few either never had one or had successfully removed said apparel.

The only things that seemed uniform was the noise level and movement. They were definitely making a “JOYFUL NOISE”. And very few were in one spot for long. So as I stood there surveying this variation of everyday mayhem I realized two things. First was there appeared to be no structure to what I was seeing and definitely no supervision. It was then I realized I had “seen” this before. Actual maybe several times.…

It was then I noticed that one particular munchkin was interested in my left shoe and sock. After awhile the novelty wore off and said child wandered off into the general melee. At that point I realized that I could interact with these children. As I looked out at the random toddlers doing whatever whim caught them, I felt a touch on my shoulder and looked back to a familiar grin. My very first thought was “for what I am about to receive….”.

Now the GRIN just got bigger and I followed THE GOOD SHEPHERD for a few steps and we sat down noticed briefly by several munchkins and quickly ignored. My first thought was “WHY THE GOOD SHEPHERD?”, to which HE NODDED HIS HEAD. “MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE AND THEY FOLLOW ME….”.

With that HE RAISED HIS VOICE AND SAID, “CHILDREN COME OVER TO ME…” and I realized how often I had HEARD THAT WONDROUS VOICE…and I saw children come running from all directions. Many immediately sat some remained standing and looking at MY MASTER.

And so was I…I figured this was going to be awesome. So when HE FLASHED HIS GRIN again at me and whispered, “GO AHEAD…”….duhhhh….

Once again THAT VOICE CAME FORTH…”DO YOU WANT TO HEAR A SONG….”…and the response was just awesome. There is maybe nothing more wonderful than the laughter of countless children….and it was AWESOME. But THE GRIN was still there, and HE SAID AGAIN… “GO AHEAD…”.

Sitting hear typing this I wonder why I did not come up with “AMAZING GRACE”, or “ROCK OF AGES”….but that was not what came readily to mind. I started with about 4 lines from an old Irish drinking song… it was lively and upbeat…and it seemed I was a hit, especially with the ad lib of “lida-lida-didly dee…” when I could not remember the words. As long as I sang with emotion and “vigor” I had their attention. For all of maybe 2 minutes…. I remember singing an old song I have no memory of but as I sang… “I’m just a soul whose intentions are good…. Oh LORD don’t let me be misunderstood…”….la-da-da-dah… and it was just me and THE GOOD SHEPHERD sitting there…the kids were back to their own business.

I guess the look on my face was funny because THE KING LAUGHED. My only thought was I should have stayed with IRISH DRINKING SONGS….ROCK and ROLL lost my audience.

“YOU WOULD HAVE LOST THEM ANYWAY…SHORT ATTENTION SPANS. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT WORDS YOU SING, THEY ONLY HEAR THE MELODY.” With that we stood up and were in another room.

The smallest of GOD’S CHILDREN can hear HIS VOICE. But few understand THE WORDS. SELAH which is where this ends.
