I walked with THE KING into another room without walls. And once again filled with children. But these were older, ages 4 or 5. And they were much fewer…
The noise level was markedly less. But it was not quiet, not at all. But here I immediately saw children interacting with each other. For the most part it was fairly well segregated. Anytime I saw more than three in a group it was either all boys or girls-only. And some group were fairly large, noisy, and energetic.
And occasionally there were separate individuals. Some boys “building great structures”. Some girls with dolls and stuffed animals. I noticed several “tea parties” in progress, and replays of the great train robbery”.
“THEY HAVE BEGIN TO INTERACT WITH THE WORLD THEY ARE IN”, BEGAN THE KING. “SOME FIT INTO GROUPS AND OTHERS ARE CONTENT IN THEIR OWN THOUGHTS. ALL HAVE LEARNED TO USE THEIR OWN IMAGINATIONS. BUT THEY CAN BE INFLUENCED…”…and I was left dangling. THE SHEPHERD had CHANGED TO KINGLY FORM. The children obviously understood HIS AUTHORITY. but where that went I was in the process of learning and I wondered, WHAT NEXT?
Like before THE VOICE FILLED the room saying, “CHILDREN PLEASE COME TO ME…”, and I watched once again as from all directions CHILDREN came TO MY MASTER. Once again I watched as children ran TO HIM, but not all. While the majority ran and grabbed the closet spots available, there were some who came slowly and purposely. Once they took their seats I could feel the silence that filled the room.
Now the toddlers were noisy, these “older” children were quiet. Almost “unnaturally” so…was my feel on it. It seemed all these children were actively watching and listening. And what I was watching was a KINGLY GRIN wondering what HE WAS ABOUT TO BLESS ME WITH….and deep inside I was hoping if I had to sing it would be any song I actually remembered the words…
It seemed we waited a long time with those eyes watching and those ears waiting for HIM.
“CHILDREN”, HE BEGAN, “I HAVE A SPECIAL FRIEND THAT WANTS TO TELL YOU A VERY SPECIAL STORY. YOU MUST ALL LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY….”.
Now this one even sounded interesting to me and I was eager to hear…and all I seemed to see was this AMAZING GRIN and a GLOW IN HIS EYES. I could see HE WAS ENJOYING HIMSELF and I could hear a quiet shuffling as all eyes were now targeting me. And out of nowhere I understood how the THANKSGIVING TURKEY FELT. Once again the only thought in my empty head was “you got to be kidding….”.
There is an old saying that prayer is the LAST RESORT of A SCOUNDREL, which even now gives me little comfort because I found myself praying very hard. And I realized singing songs for two year olds was a whole lot easier than “telling a story” for four and five year olds. And I heard that SWEET SMALL VOICE say to my spirit man, “YOU CAN TEACH AN OLD DOG A NEW TRICK OR TWO!”. To which I responded to HIS WITTY COMMENT….”gee thanks, BOSS…” Which got a response…which I did not really expect. “WOULD A SONG HELP…” and somewhere deep inside of me came this reply…. “you got to be kidding me..”……HE WASN’T and I heard to my deep chagrin…. and maybe everlasting shame….
HEY THERE LITTLE RED RIDING HOOOD… YOU SURE ARE LOOKING GOOOOOD…….
And I was elsewhere….
